Support for Parents of Kids with Disabilities
online Workshop: “How to talk about sex” for Parents of kids with disabilities
April 20, 2021, 7-8:30pm
Talking about sex is hard! But with a few simple strategies and a little bit of practice, it is possible to talk to your kids about sexuality with more comfort and confidence. We’ll address common questions that parents have such as:
How do I know what’s appropriate to teach and when?
Am I supposed to bring this up? And how?
How do I respond when my child asks me questions?
Will talking with my child about sexuality make them more likely to have sex?
We’ll also define healthy sexuality and discuss the role of sexuality education in protecting your children from sexual abuse and assault. I’ll also offer a number of resources to support you, your child’s most important teacher, in knowing where to find medically-accurate, accessible information when you need it.
Bring your questions, your fears, and be ready to have fun as we tackle “the Talk” (which is actually a lifetime of small talks!).
Cost: $20
online workshop: everyday consent
Thursday, December 2, 2021 from 6-9pm PT
What if there was one tool you could learn to
reduce your child’s risk of experiencing abuse or assault
allow them to heal from trauma they may have already experienced
and establish a solid foundation for healthy sexuality?
There is! Join me in this 3 hour workshop to learn how.
Consent isn’t just about sex. In fact, you have the opportunity to help your child understand, practice, and embody consent every day. This not only increases their safety (consent education is abuse prevention) but also fosters agency, supports self-advocacy, and dramatically improves quality of life.
